Pilates is an excellent form of exercise during pregnancy and postpartum

  

Pilates can teach you to accommodate to your changing body. Our center of gravity, and therefore our balance, changes during pregnancy. As the baby and your abdomen grow, your glutes and hamstrings can lengthen and also weaken. Strengthening your glutes and hamstrings helps to improve muscular balance.


Pilates focuses on mind-body connection. Let’s be honest, pregnancy can bring anxiety and stress about challenges ahead. Focusing on breathing and centering can help new moms deal with anxiety and stress.


Pilates can be done throughout one’s entire pregnancy. One of the great things about Pilates is that a knowledgeable instructor can modify exercises for whatever is going on that day. If something is hurting or stiff, we can tailor exercises to that need.
